  • Who created Last Ripple?
Pramodh Chandrashekar, Founder & CEO of Last Ripple "My dream was to become an entrepreneur, and I wanted my career to make a difference to the society. In March 2018, I gave myself a year to fulfil this plan, but little did I know that inspiration would come to me in a very unfortunate way within a month. My grandmother passed away in April, and as we were performed her last rites, I wondered if there could be a way to make the rituals meaningful to the family’s sentiments, while also being eco-conscious.How pure is it to let your family make the world a better, greener place to be?"
  • What is the purpose of Last Ripple? Why join our community?
LAST RIPPLE is India’s first initiative to create biodegradable urns which turns your beloved into living memory trees. We envision a different approach to the way we think about death. Cremated Ashes will be held in our planting system which turns into a living memory. The simplest way to combat climate change is to just plant a tree and nurture it. But we have a busy routine which will never let to do so. By planting tree for all events like death especially we will increase the tree cover of our cities and promote urban forestry. Green Funerals across the country to make death an beautiful green everlasting memory. Thus establishing a connection between our forgotten nautre-trees and our emotions to have a sense of belongingness. Currently, we are focusing on pet-plant memorial plantations which was an untapped blue-ocean. India being Asia's biggest pet hub made our initiative standout to get 36+ national and international features like TEDx , Singapore International Foundation , The Better India and the list goes on! We also have a chain of Eco-friendly products and also provide a platform for organisations to help in community building by conducting marathons and tree-plantation drives. Let's ignite a green revolution by rethinking life! By urban forestry and increased tree count, the city will have more frequent rains which improves water table refilling putting an end to water scarcity in big metro cities. And trees protect soil fertility coat intact avoiding dust pollution and breathing disorders. Bangalore was known as a 'Garden City' in 2000's with more than 300,000 trees, but right now the city has been re-termed as 'Silicon Valley' with hardly 100,000 trees. If it goes on this pace, it will become a Cape town in the near future! This initiative started after researching about the psychological behaviour of the common public has to why they not concerned for the common environment and aid to the betterment. The answer was tragedy of commons wherein the public only were concerned about private property which lacked social responsibility. By our initiative, we are bridging this tragedy of commons by advocating to plant a tree for every death which will get a sense of belongingness and bond to that tree.
