HOW TO GET STARTED ON PLANTING UNDER QUARANTINE

During these anxious times, we must realise that this pandemic or the forest fires are just a result of our actions. We should start taking up the responsibility and work on giving back to our mother earth. She deserves it y’all! We can start doing our part however small, even in the confines of our homes. Planting green life has innumerable mental health benefits and it also makes your environment healthier. It is proven to be a great stress buster which we all know is the need of the moment and you will end up spending your time productively. It’s time to take up responsibility and work towards a better earth. Here are some tips on how to go about planting under quarantine. Select a place you want your plants to be located. It might be inside your house or in your balcony or even in your rooftop. Be careful when you select the location as it needs to have access to a lot of sunlight and your choice of plants depend upon the area as well. Choose the plants you want to grow. If you want to have your plant in your room, you can look into house plants like Peace Lily, Snake Plant, English Ivy, Chrysanthemum, Aloe vera etc. These plants not only brighten up your room but also work as air fresheners and some of these like Aloe Vera have medicinal properties. These plants can grow in small spaces and add a greener touch to your interior. If you plan on having your plants in the balcony or on your rooftop, you can have your own kitchen garden. This might come in handy especially if you do not want to go out and buy seeds, pots or even your groceries. You can start by sowing tomato seeds or planting carrots, potatoes and onions. Having your own kitchen garden is so satisfying. You will know that your veggies grew under your love and will probably taste so much better. You will have access to clean and organic vegetables at the comfort of your own home without having to spend much. It also helps you focus on what you eat, thus ensuring mindful eating. Make use of what is available. Use your old plastic boxes, trays, bottles that you will probably throw out, old tyres or coconut shells, if you are feeling extra organic. You can crush egg shells or smash a banana and add it to the soil as it can increase the quality of your soil and thus having healthy plants. Take care of your plant with lots of love and care. Notice the small details of your plants growth. Sometimes it takes time for your little bud to grow, just be patient and never stop with the love. Do not overwater your plants and provide ample sunlight, air, water and all your love. Wishing you all a safe, peaceful, healthy and green quarantine. And let us not forget to continue this green vibe going even after the quarantine ends.
